During our brief hiatus in Kathmandu city (Nepali: काठमांडौ), we stayed at Hotel Crowne Plaza, Soaltree. This particular Crowne establishment is one of the several royal palaces in the city that were remodeled by international hotel chains cashing in on the precipitous growth of the tourism industry in Nepal. The architecture draws hues from Nepali, Hindu & Buddhist icons with intricate woodcarvings on doors and windows. The weather being un-cooperative and dependence on tardy travel agents, me and my dad spent a lot of our time shooting the courtyards and gardens surrounding the hotel.
